OpenClean began at the University of Oxford in 2010. Hand sanitisation in hospitals needed changing and four entrepreneurs had a new innovation.

  • The Beginning

Doctor Alex Oshmyansky was finding it difficult to develop a healthy hand hygiene routine whilst working in hospital. He got the idea of a hand sanitising door handle when he started to sanitise every time he went through a door.

  • Altitude Medical

Altitude Medical was formed when Alex took this solution to some colleagues in Oxford. In 2010 our team began development of a product designed to improve sanitisation around critical areas of contamination.

  • Awards Come In

Over 4-5 years of development, we started to get a bit of attention. The product won prestigious awards including the coveted D&AD Pencil for product design. We were also nominated for a number of others. You can see them below.

  • US Launch

In 2014 we launched in the US. This has been hugely influential to our growth as the product has been welcomed with open arms. Our team has now grown to include executive members, R and D, Operations, Account Management and Customer Care.

  • Seen By Millions

Along the way, we’ve secured global patents for our products as well as investment capital. We toured the world as part of the London Science Museum’s Superbug exhibition as a design solution to the hand hygiene problem.

  • The Next Steps

We’ve now launched on home turf! It’s great to be able to deliver our PullClean product here in the UK. We’re excited to grow our team and help to revolutionise hand hygiene.

We're trusted by these global organisations to deliver permanent sanitisation products…
